Murata's AS-M and AS-V series of anisotropic...(Electronics Weekly (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Murata's AS-M and AS-V series of anisotropic magneto resistance (AMR) sensors are designed to provide a non-contact magnetic sensor of high sensitivity for use in a relatively low magnetic field. These devices, the smallest measuring 1.2 x 1.2 x 0.37mm, can detect a magnetic field in either a horizontal or vertical direction. Compared to traditional magnetic switch components, such as a reed switch or Hall effect IC, AMR sensors are designed to offer high detection sensitivity and a wide detection area. Within the series, the AS-M15SAH-R and AS-M15KAH-R sensors feature a narrow range of sensitivity, from 0.5 to 1.6mT that suit high accuracy applications. The AS-M15SA-R and AS-M15KA-R parts have a sensitivity range, from 0.5 to 2.2mT. The AS-V series provides vertical magnetic field detection, and is designed as a more cost effective replacement for Hall IC designs. www.murata-europe.com Radio telemetry system for remote angle measurements Sherborne Sensors has introduced its first wireless product to the market - a wireless tilt system which is a radio telemetry system for remote angle measurements. The wireless inclinometer uses a MEMS sensor and the multi-channel digital two-way telemetry system has a wireless range of up to 100m, 18-bit resolution and a battery life of up to five years. The device has a resistance range of 0.5mO to 5mO and has a TC range of below 50ppm/°C in the temperature range 20°C to 60°C. Values from 0.5mO to 2mO are held in stock. The all-plastic construction of the Epcos B58101A802A sensor is lightweight and offers a tight seal. The plastic housing around the sensor head is designed to ensure good thermal conductivity. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +200°C. The B58101A802A type is available in a wide range of nominal resistances from 2kO to 1.4MO. The temperature tolerance is specified at ±0.5°C at the rated temperature. www.epcos.com Touchscreen controller platform senses in 4-dimensions Semtech has a touchscreen controller platform with the capability to sense in the X, Y, Z+ (proximity), and Z- (pressure) directions in touch-interface applications, such as automotive consoles and POS terminals. Designated 4D-Touch, there are both resistive and capacitive sensing platforms. The resistive touchscreen devices support a proximity detection distance of more than 5cm using any standard 4/5-wire analogue resistive panel. They feature a 12-bit analogue-to-digital converter for coordinates and touch pressure measurement. The device includes addressable user registers for application tuning and programming which are available over an SPI-compatible serial interface. The precision core sensors are tuned to allow accurate roll/pitch outputs independent of the orientation of the mounted sensor. The ADIS16210 is offered with unit-specific factory calibration, with 0.1-degree tilt accuracy. Each device is calibrated to ensure alignment across each of the three axes and tilt measurement accuracy over the full motion range, independent of mounting orientation. The iNEMO LSM330DLC multi-sensor module combines a user-selectable full-scale acceleration range from 2 to 16g with angular-rate detection from 250 to 2,500dps along the pitch, roll and yaw axes 2. Addressing power constraints in battery-operated portable devices, the module includes power-down and sleep modes and an embedded FIFO (first-in first-out) memory block for smarter power management. In addition, it can operate with any supply voltage over the range of 2.4 to 3.6V.
