Movial Demonstrates Latest HTML5 Features on Qt WebKit Based IXS Browser at Mobile World Congress 2011

HELSINKI --(Business Wire)--

Movial, the company that inspires rich and intuitive Internet experiences and a Qt Certified Partner today announced it will demo the latest HTML5 features on its Qt WebKit based Movial (News - Alert) IXS Browser at Mobile World Congress (MWC). A flexible and versatile cross-platform solution that leverages the performance excellence and HTML5 capabilities of Qt WebKit, Movial IXS Browser provides intuitive browsing and rich media experiences on connected Linux based devices.

The Movial demo showcases the HTML5 capabilities of Qt WebKit including HTML5 video playback, HTML5 canvas 2D graphics, WebGL 3D graphics and offline content support. Movial HTML5 demo on Qt WebKit will be showcased at the Qt Development Frameworks stand 1E44 in Hall 1.

HTML5 greatly increases the ability to provide rich media experiences within the web browser context. It also reduces the need for proprietary plug-ins decreasing the need for users to do separate software updates. Since the HTML5 features are built into the browser engine, the same rich content can be delivered embedded inside applications and as web pages via web browser.

"HTML5 delivers exiting enhancements providing an opportunity to develop highly creative web applications that can reach the largest available market - and because it works across so many platforms it can also speed application development significantly," said Tomi Rauste, President of Movial Creative Technologies. "Movial IXS Brwser running on the Qt WebKit engine is HTML5 ready, and enables developers to quickly and easily deploy a versatile and intuitive browser across devices."

Movial IXS Browser on Qt WebKit features a flexible user interface for different form factors and input methods such as finger touch and remote control. Other key features include multiple tabs with live thumbnails, smooth panning of web pages for touch screen devices, an integrated RSS feed reader for quick follow-up of website updates, an integrated web search, as well as social bookmarking and favorite bookmarks. The integrated feed is a new QML version implemented with Qt Quick reader and it provides a magazine like reading experience for content delivered by popular web sites. Rich animation support in the Qt Quick helped Movial to create the feed reader user interface with delightful animations and simplicity.

Movial provides advanced and in-depth knowledge of the Qt application and user interface framework. Desktop, web, industrial embedded and mobile developers can leverage Movial experts for Qt related services including Qt performance analysis, customization and optimization, application and widget development, hardware integration, consulting and support as well as hands on team training.

Movial's designers and engineers have extensive experience in Qt user interface and application creation for numerous form factors including mobile phones, tablets, smart- and netbooks as well as various industrial and recreational devices. With Qt WebKit, Movial has improved usability and eye candy appeal for many new and existing smart- and netbooks and tablet devices. Movial also recently created a 3D Flickr HTML5 demo that showcases the company's expertise and in-depth knowledge of Qt WebKit, WebGL and HTML5. See the demo video at: http://qt.nokia.com/html5.
