Movements App Launches To Allow You To Make Impactful Donations To Charitable Initiatives With Spare Change From Everyday Purchases
SAN FRANCISCO, March 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Movements, one of the first mobile apps that allows you to make contributions to specific, impactful charitable initiatives using spare change from everyday purchases, today announced its official beta launch and availability in the App Store.
Based on the principle that small acts of kindness, when multiplied by millions, can change the world, Movements is designed to make giving easy, repeatable, affordable, social, transparent and impactful – inspiring the next generation of charitable donors.
Despite being the U.S.' largest demographic, millennials donate less to charitable causes than any other age group. On the flip side, millennials are far more supportive of efforts like crowdfunding, because they demand not only transparency and accountability, but they also prefer making donations via mobile and social media. Movements uses your spare change to fund projects, not organizations. The cause and the projects are front and center, and the app provides full transparency by regularly updating you on the projects that you've helped fund via the app's activity feed.
"The largest generation of our time is experiencing serious friction when it comes to charitable giving, especially since less than eight percent of charitable donations are made online, and less than one percent are made on mobile," said Jong Woo, Movements Founder and CEO. "We knew we had to create something that would resonate with today's generation of charitable donors to leverage the power of tech and social media to expand upon the way we impact the world around us.We couldn't be more excited to finally disrupt this long untouched industry with the introduction of Movements."
"We are really excited to be included in the beta release of Movements because of its potential for impacting how people give," said Matthew Marshall, Co-Founder of New Story Charity. "They are taking the power of the crowd and making it easier than ever to get involved. We only wish we had Movements two years ago when we started!"
Since every purchase made on a linked credit or debit card results in a round-up ready to be donated, Movements enables you to engage in the act of giving every single day. Simply create an account and safely and securely link one or several credit or debit cards through their online banking login credentials. Movements will then immediately begin to calculate the round-ups for every transaction and makes those funds available for you to give. The app showcases curated, social projects across seven different cause categories that you can donate your change to. These projects are structured like typical crowdfunding projects – each project is described in detail and there is a funding goal and time limit.
When you give to a project, you'll receive updates from the charitable organization via their activity feed in the form of photos, videos and texts to update donors on the state of the project post-funding as well as provide information about the real-world impact made. You'll also automatically receive tax documentation based on your giving.
The Movements App is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. For more information, follow movements on Instagram, and visit our website at www.MovementsApp.com.
