MoI and Cisco Global Sign MoU to Develop E-services [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Abu Dhabi, 25th October, 2014 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Interior and Cisco Global Networks signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which the Technical Training Section at the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services will become an accredited network service provider and would issue Cisco Global certifications.



The memorandum was signed by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Acting Director General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services at the Ministry of Interior, and Rabih Dabboussi, Managing Director of Cisco UAE, on the sidelines of the GITEX exhibition which concluded its activities recently.

Major General Al Raisi noted that the MoU represents an important addition that will enhance electronic services in all public departments and regional sections of the Ministry of Interior. "The Ministry of Interior will leverage the Cisco networking expertise and training programs through the 'Cisco Network Academy' Program. This academy is the world's first academy that grants international networking certificates," indicated Major General Al Raisi.


Lt. Colonel Eng. Ahmed Hamid Al Suwaidi, Chief of Technical Training Section at the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services, indicated that the MoU will contribute to upgrade electronic services provided by the Ministry of Interior, ensure customers' satisfaction, and provide the training department with a comprehensive curriculum that include courses, exams and practical applications through Cisco's website. "Each trainee will have his individual account used for follow-up and conducting tests through the internet. The program targets technical support networks and infrastructure staff members, as well as officers specialized in computer sciences or information technology," added Lt. Colonel Al Suwaidi.
