Mobile App for Premera Blue Cross by Neudesic Garners Mobile-Web AwardJul 12, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- The Premera Blue Cross Mobile App, built by Neudesic, has been awarded the Mobile-Web Award for Outstanding Achievement in Mobile by the Web Marketing Association. According to a release, Premera, a not-for-profit health plan based in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, contracted Neudesic to create a new generation of mobile application that would enable them to connect better with their customers. Premera had a vision to create a mobile experience that would enable their customers to view coverage details, find a doctor, discover member discounts, contact customer service, and to stay in touch with other contacts at Premera. One of the primary business drivers for the application is to create "virtual proof of coverage" to enable customers to use their mobile device in place of a physical insurance card. "Since 1997, the Web Awards have helped define the standards for website development, now the Mobile-Web Awards will do the same for sites and apps designed for mobile devices," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association. "Smartphones and tablet computers are exploding and companies are racing to allow users to connect and interact with them using mobile devices. The goal of the Mobile-Web Awards is to both recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective mobile Web sites and mobile apps on the Internet." The Mobile-Web Awards were judged on seven criteria seen as requirements for a success mobile website or mobile app. They include Creativity, Impact, Design, Content, Interactivity, Ease of use and Use of the medium. Each mobile website or mobile app entry is judged against other entries of the same format in its industry category and then against an overall standard of excellence.
