Mindspeed to Demonstrate High Performance Broadcast Video Cable Equalizer

Mindspeed Technologies (News - Alert), Inc. (NASDAQ:MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast infrastructure, today announced it will be demonstrating the world's longest reach, low output jitter multi-rate adaptive equalizer at the 2012 NAB Show in Las Vegas, NV.

The M21544 equalizer features breakthrough signal-conditioning technology from Mindspeed that boosts system performance, and provides greater design margin and flexibility by enabling longer distances with ultra-low output jitter. The new equalizer capability complements Mindspeed's comprehensive portfolio of crosspoint switches, serial digital interface (SDI) reclockers and SDI cable drivers.

Mindspeed®'s signal-coditioning technology is a key feature of the company's crosspoint switches and SDI products, and enables the M21544 equalizer to compensate for signal losses accumulated across extended cable lengths when operating at 2.97 gigabits per second (Gbps). The ability to provide critical compensation, buffering and signal-conditioning functionality is becoming increasingly important for next-generation video switching systems that must meet rigorous transmission performance requirements across the entire signal path.

Technical Details

The M21544 provides adaptive, low noise, high gain equalization for 75 ohm coaxial cables at SDI data rates from 143 Mbps to 2.97 Gbps. The device incorporates integrated dual differential outputs that each feature programmable swing and de-emphasis, enabling signals to be transmitted across 40 inches of FR4 trace. The device operates using a single 2.5V supply voltage and features a number of advanced diagnostics and power management capabilities, which can be used to optimize performance in demanding applications.

Mindspeed will be demonstrating the M21544 at the 2012 NAB Show in booth #N1112 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, April 16-19, 2012.

Availability

It is anticipated that the M21544 equalizer will start sampling in the third calendar quarter of 2012.
