Military.com Launches New App for Military Pay

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Military.com launched a new app today that will allow service members instantaneous access to information about their pay and allowances from their mobile devices.

The subject of pay continues to be one of the most popular topics on Military.com and the website's pay calculator has been used extensively over the past decade.

Today, more and more users access information on their mobile devices prompting Military.com to launch the new pay app that can be accessed by iOS and Android devices. The app allows service members and their families to accurately predict their compensation and calculate possible changes or additional pay they may be eligible for because of job changes or new qualifications in a specialty area. The app also features reference information and articles about finances, budgets and other information.

Military pay is a complicated formula that begins with monthly base pay based on rank and years of service. But that base pay is then augmented by housing allowances, family separation allowances, aviation career pay, sea pay, imminent danger pay, hazardous duty pay or any number of different kinds of special duty pay or board certified jobs in the military.

Greg Smith, President of Miltary.com and retired Navy admiral, said, "The complexities of the military pay system demands a comprehensive and simple way to keep abreast of changes.  Military.com has introduced a new pay app that will give our military members and their families the information they need to make informed decisions. "

Military.com has also launched a series of other improvements including optimized viewing on mobile devices for videos, the Equipment Guide and an update to the Job Fair Listing page, one of the most popular pages within the Veteran Jobs section.

For members looking to translate their military-related experience and skills to the civilian job market, Military.com has a developed a variety of tools and resources, including the award-winning Military Skills Translator (MST).  MST translates military skills into civilian skills, and links them to thousands of jobs across the country, powered by Monster.com, the parent company of Military.com. In addition, Military.com provides transitioning members with support via an on-line Transition Center. Members can sign up for newsletters packed with timely and pertinent information helping them prepare for their transition back to civilian life.
