Microtech Systems Launches Xpress XL -- Twelve Drive, Dual Printer CD/DVD Production System

BELMONT, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 17, 2005 -- Microtech Systems is launching a new high performance CD/DVD mixed media production system. An industry first in the CD/DVD duplication system category, the Xpress XL is a dedicated robotic production system designed for producing high volumes of CDs/DVDs and DVD-DL recorded discs with high quality printed labels. The XL is equipped with twelve recorders and two label printers for the highest possible yield from a single production system. The XL features an 800-disc capacity and the ability to produce mixed media with intuitive setup controls. Each XL comes as a complete system with integrated server class PC. -0- *T "We are very excited to introduce the first high capacity mixed media compatible system to the market. With the Xpress XL, operations managers and IT professionals can manage the in-house production of multiple titles on CD/DVD and DVD-DL all on one machine. Scheduling flexibility is accomplished by the XL system's unique ability to process mixed media recording and printing jobs. For example, it's possible to duplicate 200 CDs with inkjet printed labels and 200 DVD-DL discs with thermal printed labels at the same time! Factor in the advanced software publishing features and customizable API, and this XL system offers tremendous value as an in-house production solution," says Jon Hodges, International Sales Manager, Microtech Systems. *T

The system runs on a Windows XP-based operating system with a full suite of Microtech developed production software. The software suite includes all the capabilities found on the prior Xpress models for disc duplication, printing, and customization using the API. Optionally available is the widely deployed desktop software MyDisc Enterprise for submitting remote jobs to the machine from Windows workstations. -0- *T "Windows XP is a logical choice for the Xpress XL to provide compatibility with most customer networks. It is possible to achieve connectivity for disc publishing in other server environments. Microtech has multiple installations in Unix and Linux server environments. The file based API requires simple ASCI II text files to initiate job requests, making it the most widely compatible API method available. Microtech has also implemented XML hooks as another alternative for customers to issue calls to the machine and receive real time feedback," continues Jon Hodges. *T
