Merkle Ranks 31 in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Program for Maryland

COLUMBIA, Md. --(Business Wire)-- Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), one of the nation's largest and fastest growing database marketing agencies, today announced it has been named to Deloitte's prestigious "Technology Fast 50 Program" for the Maryland. The program ranks the top 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation's leading professional services organizations. Rankings are based on the percentage of revenue growth over five years from 2003-2007.

To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2003 and $5,000,000 in 2007 and be headquartered in Maryland. A nominee must also be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.

Merkle has grown and expanded its client base, staff and technology capabilities to become a leading provider of data-driven marketing solutions to Fortune 1000 companies and leading nonprofit organizations. Since the beginning of 2008, the company has hired over 200 new employees and plans to hire an additional 70 by the end of the year. In June, the company moved to a newly constructed headquarters in Columbia -- located in Howard County, Md. -- capable of growing with Merkle's continually expanding staff. The company currently employs more than 1,100 people nationwide.

"To rank on Deloitte's Technology Fast 50, companies must have phenomenal revenue growth over five years," said Gary Tabach, Greater Washington Office Regional Managing Partner, Deloitte & Touche, LLP. "Merkle has proven to be one of the fast-growth success stories in Maryland, and we applaud their dedication to making their vision a reality."

"In the past few years, Merkle has been experiencing tremendous growth and momentum, and we are delighted to be recognized by Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program," said David Williams, President and CEO, Merkle. "We attribute our success to the high demand for the data-driven results that Merkle brings to every client and every marketing program. Merkle's year-over-year growth is a result of the dedication and commitment of our unparalleled staff of world-class talent. We believe this exceptional group of individuals is the primary driver of our success and growth, and the main reason why Merkle was ranked by Deloitte's Maryland program.

Companies from the nine regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies.
