(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PUNE: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has rolled out a mentorship programme for fresh chartered accountants (CAs) to familiarize them to the practical needs of industries and businesses in the changing economic and regulatory scenario. ICAI vice president Manoj Fadnis told reporters that a chartered accountant with an experience of 10 years who is engaged in the industry as chief financial officer can take up mentees and guide them through the practical aspects of the profession. "More and more opportunities are coming in the industry and there is a higher earning potential for CAs," he said. The role of CAs is changing and exceeding the traditional audit and accounting, Fadnis said, adding that the institute is in the process of revising the syllabus and content of the course which will be applied from 2015-16. Phadnis said one can complete the course in four years, spending just about Rs 30,000. "There is a marked rise in the number of women chartered accountants and they are demonstrating high academic promise," he added.
