ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 23 -- MEI, West Chester, Pa., has been assigned a patent (8,157,167) developed by Evan J. Cost, Audubon, Pa., Peter Bullard, Schwenksville, Pa., and Robert Martin, West Chester, Pa., for a contactless smartcard bezel.
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A multi media payment device includes a banknote acceptor and a RF card reader, and also may include a magnetic card reader. A bezel assembly for connection to the bill acceptor preferably includes a reader unit to read magnetic swipe cards and contactless chip cards."
