Mayor Berke Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Chattanooga School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Thanks to a proclamation from Mayor Berke, Jan. 21-27 has officially been proclaimed School Choice Week in Chattanooga. Hundreds of other city and county leaders - plus dozens of governors - have issued similar proclamations for their municipalities and states.

Tennesseeans have planned 640 events around the state, hoping to spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

Those rallies, receptions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and other activities are part of the 32,000 planned across the country, celebrating opportunity in education and helping parents find the best schools or educational settings for their kids.

"Parents in Chattanooga, like parents everywhere, simply want the best for their kids," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We're grateful to Mayor Berke for issuing this proclamation, raising parents' awareness of the educaional options available for their children. Every kid is unique, and parents know their kids better than anyone else. We hope to empower parents in Chattanooga and across the country to find the school or educational option that they know is best for their own kids."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
