Luxar Tech Delivers the First Open-Networking 100G Network Packet Brokers to extend its Scalable Network Monitoring Solution

Luxar Tech Inc., a leader in hyperscale networking monitoring solutions, today announced that it has extended its leadership in its scalable SDN-based solution with the first OpenFlow-powered 100G network packet brokers (NPBs). The new NPBs are powered by Pica8's PicOS, a proven SDN-enabled network operating system (NOS) for white box switches.

Luxar Tech's 100G NPBs enable optimal access and visibility into network traffic for a variety of network monitoring, security, and acceleration tools. The company's ASIC-based NPB design dramatically reduces the cost of the equipment, making provisioning network visibility more affordable. Moreover, the new NPBs are SDN-ready and readily fit into Luxar's SDN-based visibility platform. Users can start with a small deployment of NPBs without making a big dent in the budget, and then put in the LuxeFabric™ - Luxar's white box switch fabric customized for network visibility - when they want to scale their farm of tools.

Luxar's software-defined visibility platform has been in production networks since 2015. Customers benefit from its cost-effectiveness, scalability, and flexibility - a direct result of its design which uses SDN principles, white-box OpenFlow switches, and additional Luxar Tech patented technologies.

We have seen customers using the same visibility infrastructure for network traffic tapping during the day and for big data computation at night and have scaled over a thousand endpoints," said Henry Fung, VP of Networking Products at Luxar.

"With its industry-leading OpenFlow support, PicOS has dramatically simplified the integration of Luxar's NPB and controller products into real production networks," said Dan Tuchler, VP of Product Management at Pica8, Inc. "Integration is the key to building solutions that customers want, and the openness and programmability of PicOS simplifies the integration of the hardware, software controller, application, and other solution components."

Luxar has also partnered with Rohde & Schwarz (News - Alert) to provide network traffic analytics tools. "Together with Luxar Tech and Pica8, we've enabled integrators and carriers to use SDN to build state-of-the-art traffic analytics solutions based on R&S Net Sensor and R&S Net Report in a simple and seamless way," said Dirk Czepluch, VP Business Unit, Network Analytics at Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity.

Please visit Luxar's exhibition booth at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, USA, February 14th - 16th, 2017. We would be glad to talk more about our financially attractive, scale-out ready, and design-proven network visibility solutions.
