[November 08, 2009] Lining up for flu shots in Lodi Tweet Nov 07, 2009 (Lodi News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- People wanting to get the H1N1 vaccine lined up down the block outside the San Joaquin County Public Health Clinic at 300 W. Oak St. in Lodi on Friday morning. Larhonda Wagner, of Lodi, brought her daughter, Chenelle Cross, 14, to the clinic to get her shot. Cross said notes, teachers and phone messages from her school, Lodi High School, said that students at the school had gotten the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu. Her friend also had gotten it. "I don't like to be sick. I'd rather get a shot," she said after already waiting one hour in line. According to the Public Health Services Web site (www.sjcphs.org), San Joaquin County Public Health has received a limited supply of H1N1 influenza vaccine (a combination of nasal mist and injectable), and are currently offering vaccinations to people in the following three groups: children and young adults from 6 months to 18 years of age; caregivers/household members of infants younger than 6 months; and pregnant women, at any stage of their pregnancy. Vaccinations are now available at the Lodi Public Health Clinic on Fridays from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Public Health's priority is to vaccinate people who don't have insurance or a regular medical provider. It is expected that private providers will receive vaccines in the next two to three weeks. People with regular medical care providers should contact them to find out if they plan to offer the H1N1 vaccine.
