LIME to launch 4G in Antigua and Barbuda [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]


(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LIME, the Caribbean unit of Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), is planning to introduce LTE-based services in Antigua and Barbuda, Developing Telecoms reports. With LIME's local unit said to have acquired suitable spectrum for the new services, it has been claimed that the 4G launch in the island territory would support the state's objective of improving internet access. Commenting on the plans, Dr. Hon. Edmond Mansoor, Antigua and Barbuda's minister for telecommunications, science and technology, was cited as saying: 'We are delighted that LIME has decided to invest in Antigua and Barbuda and introduce world-class mobile data services. It is important to our government that no-one is left behind as our technology moves forward.' Meanwhile, Martin Roos, CEO for LIME's Caribbean region, added: 'We are pleased to announce that we will be investing in a new LTE mobile network, which will significantly improve the mobile service our customers receive.'
