Leader of India's opposition party shot


(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Pramod Mahajan, a former federal minister and general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, India's opposition party, has been shot in a family dispute.

Mahajan underwent surgery to remove the bullets. His condition is said to be quite critical, the BBC reported.

Praveen Mahajan, the victim's brother, was allowed to pass through building security to enter the 15th floor Mumbai apartment, where he allegedly shot the party leader three times.

Indian TV channels report Praveen Mahajan has surrendered to police.
