NEW YORK - Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Wang Guangya said Wednesday Iran's announcement that it has manufactured low-enriched uranium "is not in line with" the recent statement by the president of the U.N. Security Council and a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency that called on Iran to halt such activities.



Wang expressed his view when he spoke to reporters at the U.N. headquarters in New York.

---------- Bush urges Chinese leader to explain ways to fix trade imbalances


WASHINGTON - U.S. President George W. Bush urged Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday to come up with measures to fix global trade imbalances when they meet April 20 in Washington, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

Bush told visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi that he "looks forward to the visit by President Hu Jintao to the White House next week and said it is important that President Hu explain to the American people how China will meet the challenge of rectifying global economic imbalances," McClellan told reporters.

---------- 'Tamagotchi' Web pet game sold 20 mil. copies in 2 years

TOKYO - Bandai Co.'s "Tamagotchi" virtual pet-raising video game has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide in two years as of the end of March, the company announced Wednesday.

The toymaker has released three different types of the video game, selling about 8.6 million copies in Japan and about 11.88 million copies in the rest of the world, mostly in Europe.

---------- Rice calls for 'strong steps' against Iran

WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday the U.N. Security Council must take "strong steps" against Iran now that Tehran has further defied the international community with its uranium enrichment announcement.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday the country has successfully enriched uranium for the first time.
