TOKYO - Heisei Denden Co., a Tokyo-based venture company which offers low-cost fixed-line phone services, will give up its business turnaround efforts under a court-supervised rehabilitation process, its president said Monday.

"We will abandon the hope of rehabilitating our company," Kenji Sato told a news conference.

---------- Livedoor proposes reshuffling Livedoor Auto board in favor of parent

TOKYO - Livedoor Auto Co. said Monday it has received a proposal from Livedoor Co. that may hinder its plan to break away from its parent company mired in alleged securities law violations.

The proposal calls for Livedoor Auto to select seven individuals it stipulates as board members at its general shareholders meeting in late June.

---------- Trade minister Nikai set to attend Boao Forum meeting from Fri.

TOKYO - Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Toshihiro Nikai said Monday he is set to attend this year's meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia on Friday and Saturday in China's Hainan Province, an Asian version of the World Economic Forum held annually in Davos, Switzerland.



The minister said he has obtained approval from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to attend the economic forum as a representative of Japan. Nikai expressed hope he could also discuss with Chinese leaders bilateral issues, such as a dispute over gas exploration rights in the East China Sea, on the sidelines of the meeting.
