TOKYO - Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Toshihiro Nikai said Monday he is set to attend this year's meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia on Friday and Saturday in China's Hainan Province, an Asian version of the World Economic Forum held annually in Davos, Switzerland. The minister said he has obtained approval from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to attend the economic forum as a representative of Japan. Nikai expressed hope he could also discuss with Chinese leaders bilateral issues, such as a dispute over gas exploration rights in the East China Sea, on the sidelines of the meeting. |
