Kurdish group claims bomb responsibility

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A Kurdish separatist group claimed responsibility for an Istanbul bomb blast that killed a street vendor and injured 13 other people, a report said.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons -- or TAK -- claimed in e-mails sent to media organizations that the attack was retaliation for recent violence between Kurds and Turkish riot police in southeast Turkey, the BBC reported.

From now on, every attack against our people will be met immediately by even more violent acts, the group's e-mail said. We will start to harm not just property but lives, too. With our actions we will turn Turkey into hell.

In response to the recent violence, the European Union Friday urged the Turkish government to improve Kurds' rights and develop the area's economy.
