Krav Maga Worldwide® Empowerment Seminars Call Women to Action During April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Ending sexual violence starts with training women to use their voice, mind and body to prevent sexual assault. During April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Krav Maga Worldwide (KMW) and its affiliates join together in hosting Women's Empowerment Seminars throughout the world to help women learn practical self-defense skills, like how to use decisive verbal cues, assess environmental risks, avoid dangerous situations, and fight off attackers. In partnership with the non-profit organization Krav Maga Association of America, KMW and its affiliates will train women, teens, and young girls on the necessary skills that can transform a call for help into a call to action: "We cannot ignore the scary reality that there are bad people out there who threaten and do bad things. Rather, we equip women with the tools and training that help them develop the confidence, knowledge and power to protect their bodies and take control over their own safety," said Kelly Campbell, KMW-certified instructor.

Sexual assault remains a serious and widespread problm. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center estimates nearly 1 in 5 women in the United States have experienced an attempted rape or have been raped. According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, approximately 7 out of 10 victims know their assailants.

The seminars combine a safe environment that engages participants in a frank dialogue about sexual assault scenarios, with realistic training that focuses on prevention skills to identify threats before they happen and physical skills to stop and fight off attacks. Participants develop the right mindset, inner strength, and physical preparedness to maintain their personal safety.
