Konami's soccer game software 'Winning Eleven' sells 7 mil. units+


(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)TOKYO, May 17_(Kyodo) _ Konami Corp.'s soccer game software "Winning Eleven" series sold more than 7 million copies worldwide in fiscal 2005, a record high for any soccer game software, the company said Wednesday.



The game sold well mainly in Europe where football fever has risen due to the forthcoming World Cup finals in Germany next month, it said.

The game sold 7.08 million units in the year that ended March 31, up from 5.8 million units in the previous fiscal year.


The first series of Winning Eleven was launched in 1995, and proved popular because the user can choose real football teams and players as game characters.

The 10th version of the series was released in April.
