Kings Owner to Discuss Golden 1 Center Opening With Sacramento Press Club

After years of work, Sacramento's state of the art new Golden 1 Center is about to open its doors.

Vivek Ranadivé, owner of the Sacramento Kings, will meet with the Sacramento Press Club at Capitol Plaza Halls on Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. to talk about the effort to bring the country's most high-tech arena to the capital city.

Vivek Ranadivé is a technology entrepreneur who pioneered the use of real-time messaging software and created TIBCO, a multibillion-dollar software company. His software helped digitize Wall Street and became the central nervous system for most of the world's largest companies and government agencies. He is known as "Mr. Real Time" and it's his belief that by getting the right information to the right place at the right time, you can make the world a better place. He was inspired to leave his native Indi at 16 for Cambridge, Mass., where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering and later an MBA at Harvard.

Ranadivé is bringing his tech and entrepreneurial talents to bear as the owner and chairman of the Sacramento Kings. His love of basketball began when he coached his daughter's middle school team, a success that was the inspiration for Malcolm Gladwell's bestselling book "David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants." In 2013, he became the first Indian majority owner of an NBA team when he purchased the Sacramento Kings, securing their future in California's capital city. Under Ranadivé's leadership, the Kings are investing $1 billion in the downtown area and aiming to build the "next great American city."

Please join the Sacramento Press Club as we welcome Ranadivé just days before the official opening of the new Golden 1 Center, which is billed as the world's smartest arena.
