Johnson & Johnson Selects Rutgers to Drive Digital Transformation

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Feb. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Since 2011, Rutgers Business School Executive Education (RBSEE) has worked closely with dozens of Johnson & Johnson regional employees to design and execute a customized global digital learning plan.

Rutgers Business School Executive Education has partnered with Johnson & Johnson for the past four years to deliver customized corporate training.

Scott Creighton, global vice president, marketing excellence group at J&J, said the Rutgers Corporate Program delivered material that was not only relevant and engaging but was also thought provoking.

Creighton had this to say about his company's experience with Rutgers:

"As I look back on the programs we have done and executed, there are two things that really stick in my mind.  The first one is that Rutgers, regardless of the level of the program – from the introductory to the senior level – has taught our participants how to think better about how to approach digital.

"Secondly, like ourselves Rutgers has a passion for improving these courses. We have increased the effectiveness of these courses, and I'm really pleased with the results that are happening in the marketplace."

The partnership between Rutger and J&J is a true collaboration

Joe Schaffer, associate dean of Rutgers Business School Executive Education, said RBSEE has collaborated with J&J from the curriculum design and faculty selection through to the program evaluation phase.

"It's been a privilege to partner with J&J on the development and deployment of this global program," he said. "The result is a program that both organizations are extremely proud of."

Marketing is a creative business and marketing in a digital world opens up "a whole new box of crayons," said Jackie Scott, Rutgers global program director.

"Learning a new skill or technology is the easy part," Scott said. "Having the mindset to apply it, the logic to process it and the ability to work within the context of a team while doing so, is critical to the success of our programs. We are obsessed with program results and client outcomes."

Successful results

Scott said one program participant from the Asia Pacific region has made phenomenal progress with the Neutrogena India brand team.

"The Neutrogena campaign is a game changer as they decided to go completely digital. ROI in India has been outstanding using YouTube, mobile tablets and short message service at the point of purchase," Scott said. "The e-commerce enabled Facebook page is now the No. 1 Neutrogena brand page outside of the U.S. and is the No. 1 brand page in India in terms of consumer engagement."

Shivi Gupta, senior product manager at J&J, said the custom program was "instrumental in opening up our minds and shaping the way we think of digital."

"We moved beyond looking at digital as a mere media channel, to focusing on building a differentiated brand with the 'digital consumer' at the center," she said.
