Jobs expansion at technical firm [Evening Gazette (UK)]

(Evening Gazette (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE TTE Technical Training Group has appointed a new finance director and expanded its finance department with the creation of two new positions. Andrea Preston has been promoted to the newly created role after more than four years at TTE.

Middlesbrough-based TTE is an internationally renowned provider of technical training and consultancy services, which provides technical vocational training for young people aged 16-25.

It has recently experienced strong growth in its commercial activities, particularly overseas in markets such as Oman, West Africa and Azerbaijan.

Andrea joined as financial controller and progressed to the position of group finance manager before taking her current position.

Her promotion, alongside the development of TTE's commercial operations, has also led to the requirement for the introduction of a group financial controller and a commercial accountant.

TTE delivers skills development programmes in the engineering, oil and gas, process, chemical and manufacturing sectors as well as designing, operating and managing technical training facilities overseas.

Training offered takes the form of Vocational Study Programmes and employer-sponsored Advanced Apprenticeships.

The group is a charity, having a "not-for-profit" status. Surpluses generated from its subsidiary businesses TTE International Ltd and TTE Apprenticeships Ltd are re-invested back into the group to provide training and Apprenticeship opportunities for young people.

As a member of the board, Andrea will lead TTE's financial strategic direction with particular emphasis on securing available funding for the training of young people on Teesside and overseeing commercial contracts, which is an area that she has developed expertise.

The organisation has secured projects ranging from consultancy and training programmes through to the design, delivery and operation of training centres, all of which require specialist contracting expertise and cultural understanding of different international markets.

Andrea said: "I am looking forward to being an executive director of TTE and playing a key part in the success TTE is enjoying in delivering skills across industry.

"The reputation TTE has established in both domestic and international markets has really helped with the organisation's growth." Steve Grant, managing director of TTE, said: "Andrea is a major asset to the organisation and her knowledge and experience will continue to be of real benefit to TTE. It is also pleasing that, the demand for our services and the increase in opportunities across global industry sectors, has led to the creation of two new jobs."
