Jeet to romance Diya

(The Times of India Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The two of them along with Priyanshu, are acting in Rajaa Mukerji's Bengali thriller. We give a low down.

Bengali film Bidhatar Lekha has already hit the headlines not only because its Rajaa Mukerji's (Rani Mukerji's elder brother) directorial debut on the big screen but also Lalit's (of Jatin-Lalit fame) first work as an individual music director. But there is more to this film than one can imagine.

In fact, this happens to be Diya Mirza's first Bengali film and also Priyanshu Chatterjee's, who has negative shades in his role. "I cast Diya in the film because she speaks Bengali fluently thanks to her Bengali mom and she fits the bill very well.

Jeet is doing the lead opposite Diya and the pair is looking very fresh and good on screen," said Rajaa over the telephone from Mumbai. "I believe a good looking pair can bring in the initial audience to the moviehalls. Of course the success of a film depends on the making and many other things but first it's important to get the audience to the hall," said the director.

...But why a Bengali film for starters? "I have assisted my father in most of his Bengali films and I have a very good grasp over the language and that's where my roots are," said Rajaa.

But sadly Diya's fans in Kolkata will not get to see the lissome lady shooting in here. "We will keep a start-to-finish schedule from September 15 to October 25 in Darjeeling," said Rajaa. Bidhatar Lekha is a romantic thriller harping on revenge. So there will be ample for Priyanshu to do.

"My role has different shades. I cannot elucidate on that right now. All I can say is that it's a character that I have never played before and I hope I will get noticed in the Bengali film industry because of this film," said Priyanshu.

Jeet, who went to Mumbai recently, to sign on the dotted line, said, "The subject of the film is very interesting. I am looking forward to step into the shoes of the character I play.
