InvestSource, Inc.: PureSpectrum, Inc. Begins Process of Building Full CFL Prototype Product Line

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
RDATE:18082008

Stocks in the News: PureSpectrum, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PSPM), Pacific Gas
and Electric Co. (NYSE: PCG), Digital Ally, Inc. (NASDAQ: DGLY),
Advanced Control Systems, Inc. (NYSE: ACS)

Aug 14, 2008 -- PureSpectrum, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PSPM) has begun the
process of manufacturing a full product line of dimmable Compact
Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) prototypes as the technology company accelerates
its transition from research and development into production and
distribution. PureSpectrum has contracted with enerSave, an independent
engineering firm specializing in lighting located in New York, to build
the bulbs. The company expects to complete engineering and design work
for a dimmable 23-watt CFL spiral by the end of August and plans to
complete work on multiple variations of 23-watt, 42-watt, 14-watt and
9-watt dimmable CFL lamps by the end of the year. PureSpectrum has been
engaged in ongoing discussions with multiple prospective licensing
partners for the company's unique dimmable ballast technology.
President and CEO Lee Vanatta said building a full line of dimmable
prototypes will allow PureSpectrum proof of concept as well as enable
the company to secure safety approvals for the designs from
Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) that will expedite the manufacturing process once a licensing
agreement has been reached. "When we gain UL and FCC approvals, the
manufacturers we are in discussions with will be able to rapidly
integrate our design for a dimmable CFL into its production line with
minimal modifications, shortening the lag time between a licensing
agreement and bringing an actual product powered by PureSpectrum
technology to market," said Vanatta, who said the designs will consist
of a standard Edison mount CFL bulb with an integrated PureSpectrum
ballast. "By enabling the manufacturers to quickly introduce a
dependable dimmable CFL product, we will also accelerate the
realization of substantial revenue generation from licensing agreements
for PureSpectrum. It is our expectation that multiple manufacturers
will bring dimmable CFL products built with PureSpectrum technology to
market by the first quarter of 2009." PureSpectrum owns multiple
patents and patents pending for innovative electronic ballast
technology for fluorescent lighting. Lighting industry experts and
government analysts have declared dimming to be a primary issue as the
lighting industry transitions away from incandescent bulbs, and Vanatta
said lamp and fixture manufacturers are beginning to earnestly seek an
immediately implementable dimmable CFL solution. "We have recognized a
heightened sense of urgency surrounding the issue of dimming, and we
believe building product prototypes will enable manufacturers to
realize their objective more quickly," Vanatta said. "At the same time,
the process of constructing a full line of dimmable PureSpectrum CFL
products will allow us the chance to more readily introduce our
dimmable technology to additional manufacturers."

Aug 15, 2008 -- Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (NYSE: PCG) announced
Thursday that it will buy a total of 800 megawatts of renewable energy
-- enough to power 239,000 homes each year -- from subsidiaries of
Hayward, Calif.-based OptiSolar Inc. and SunPower. The two plants in
San Luis Obispo County will be able to generate more electricity than
all the PV solar-electric systems panels installed in the U.S. in 2007.
Privately held OptiSolar's 550-megawatt Topaz Solar Farm project is
expected to begin delivering power in 2011, while SunPower's
250-megawatt project is expected to start power delivery in 2010.
Calyon Securities analyst George Kotzias said the deals are contingent
on Congress extending solar energy income tax credits set to expire at
year's end. "The commitment by PG&E is a wake-up call for Congress to
act on extending the ITC when it returns from recess," Kotzias said in
a note to investors Friday. "We feel that acts like this are exactly
what is needed to light the fire under the feet of our federal policy
makers."

Aug 15, 2008 -- Digital Ally, Inc. (NASDAQ: DGLY), which develops,
manufactures and markets advanced digital technology products for law
enforcement, homeland security and commercial security applications,
today announced that the Company has received its fifth order for its
DVM-500 In-Car Video Rearview Mirror Systems from the West Virginia
State Police. The state police agency placed orders for 124 systems in
early 2007, an additional 50 systems in September 2007, a third order
for 100 systems in the first quarter of 2008 and a fourth order for 13
systems in April 2008. The latest order, for 229 units, brings the
total number of DVM-500 systems being utilized by the West Virginia
State Police to 516 units. "We are very pleased that the West Virginia
State Police is so satisfied with the performance of our DVM-500 In-Car
Video Rearview Mirror Systems that the agency has placed its largest
order, to date, with our Company," stated Stanton E. Ross, Chief
Executive Officer of Digital Ally, Inc. "While the cumulative total of
516 units ordered by the West Virginia State Police represents the
largest number of DVM-500 systems ordered by a single law enforcement
agency in the United States, the number of our customers that have
placed multiple follow-on orders after gaining field experience with
their initial DVM-500s continues to expand."

Aug 15, 2008 -- Advanced Control Systems, Inc. (NYSE: ACS), a leading
provider of smart grid automation and system solutions to global
utilities, recently completed an expedited delivery of two ACS
substation automation systems to ITC Midwest LLC, a subsidiary of ITC
Holdings Corp. (NYSE: ITC), in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In response to the
widespread flooding that overtook Eastern Iowa in early June, ACS
accelerated the design, configuration and delivery of replacement
systems to ITC Midwest from a normal schedule of 90 days to less than
10 working days. The historic flooding caused record-breaking river
levels that forced tens of thousands to evacuate and cost communities
millions of dollars in estimated damages. Following the restoration of
power supply to delivery companies servicing residents of these
devastated communities, ITC Midwest collaborated with ACS to rapidly
configure replacement high voltage transmission substation automation
systems for several key facilities. As a result of the flood damage
suffered by the company's transmission facilities, ITC Midwest
contacted ACS to request the emergency delivery. ACS then quickly
mobilized a dedicated ''tiger team'' working extended hours to
dramatically shorten the process required to design, test and ship the
replacement systems. Responding to the urgent needs of ITC Midwest, ACS
broke all previous delivery records for a newly designed system, and
successfully expedited the shipment of the two very large, freestanding
Connex 30 systems in less than ten working days. Steve Stout, director
of asset management at ITC, commented, "The unparalleled responsiveness
of ACS and the ability to deliver a top quality product demonstrates
the commitment ACS has to the customer. Supplier flexibility and
product support are key considerations for ITC suppliers and ACS
continues to deliver.''

Market Wrap for August 15th, 2008

The week's final trading session concluded in mixed fashion as results
were mixed across the major indices. The Dow and the S&P 500 closed the
session up 0.4%, yet the Nasdaq posted a modest decline of 0.1%. For
the week, the Dow closed 0.6% lower and the S&P 500 finished 0.1%
higher, while the Nasdaq posted a healthy gain of 1.6%.

Participants initially pushed the major indices higher as several
retailers provided better-than-expected earnings per share results and
a strong dollar helped undercut commodity prices further. Yet the sense
of bullishness during the early going waned in afternoon trade as
retailers lacked the strength to help the broader market and no
market-moving leader emerged. Kohl's (KSS 51.79, +3.52), Nordstrom (JWN
31.54, +1.32), JCPenney (JCP 39.94, +3.11), and Abercrombie & Fitch
(ANF 52.59, +0.02) each announced earnings per share results that
exceeded analysts' dour estimates. The upside surprise is indicative
that the consumer has not rolled over. However, the retailers did issue
cautious guidance, indicating a lack of confidence in the coming
quarters. In the end, retailers finished the session 1.8% higher,
besting the major indices again. Helping improve investors' outlook for
retailers was another drop in oil prices, thanks largely to a stronger
dollar. The dollar index climbed nearly 0.7% as crude shed more than 1%
to settle below $114 per barrel. Strength in the greenback also helped
push the CRB Commodity Index roughly 1.8% lower. Crude prices are still
up more than 18% year-to-date and the CRB is up 6.6% year-to-date. The
weakness in commodities pushed the energy sector 1.8% lower and
materials 0.4% lower. The financial sector was unable to sustain hefty
gains from early in the session. Though settling 1.1% higher, the
sector was touting a 2.6% advance shortly after opening bell.
Financials have been mired somewhat during recent sessions by
uncertainty surrounding auction rate securities settlements.
Allegations have been made against several major Wall Street firms that
clients were duped into purchasing what were marketed as safe
investment vehicles, but they later proved to be risky and illiquid.
Participants looked past a batch of economic data that indicated
manufacturing activity is holding up better than anticipated.
Industrial production climbed 0.2% during July, which follows a 0.4%
increase in June. Economists expected the latest reading to be flat.
Additionally, the Empire State Manufacturing Index, a regional survey
of manufacturers conducted by the New York Fed, came in at 2.8. It was
expected to come in at -4.2.
