International News - Android Apps double in two months


(Slogan (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Android and iPhone are juggernauts in the hand-held smartphone industry. In four years. Some 55 million iPhone units were sold while 160000 Android devices were being sold every day by June 2010. Both devices are enabled to make use of applications, 300,000 of which are available in the Apple App Store and 200,000 in the Android Market. It took the Android Market two years to reach the 100,000 app mark and just two months to double that. Android has now reached the coveted spot for being the top-selling operating system with 2.5 million apps downloaded since Android Market opened in October 2008 and, with 103 downloads per second, it is time that Apple starts being a little nervous.



Android is an operating system that makes use of the Linux kernel. It was acquired by Google in 2005 and its market share by the third quarter of 2010 was 43.6%.

In terms of innovation, Apple is still a mighty giant but Android has caught up fast. As statistics show, the tech generation loves the little green robot. Let’s see what new records Android will set next. F
