The company also announced an enhanced version of the PB50 rugged mobile four inch label printer, including an improved label self strip feature and media holder. The PB22, PB32, and PB50 offer mobile transaction security with support of wireless security standards WPA/WPA2, IEEE 802.11x, and Cisco Certified Extensions (CCX). "Since purchasing Intermec's PB50 mobile printer, our productivity has improved because users no longer have to walk to fixed printer stations to create labels, which has resulted in a $600,000 annualized ROI," said Tony Evans, director of logistics, Bally Technologies. "The PB50 has increased our inventory accuracy from 24 percent to 99.5 percent, and gives us the visibility and functionality to know exactly where products are without any second guessing." Intermec said its printers include integration and operation with its CK3 rugged mobile computer and Intermec media enables retailers to adapt from applications such as shelf re-labeling and pricing to line-busting. "For in-premise workers, it is essential that their label printers, like their other equipment, be rugged," said Tom Wimmer, director, auto ID and transaction automation practice, VDC Research Group. The PB22, PB32, and PB50 are built with an IP54 seal rating, and a six and a half foot (two meter) drop specification. Intermec SmartSystems provides remote monitoring and diagnostics to the devices on the network so problem resolution can occur more quickly.
