INTERCEPTOR(TM) Optical Network Security System added to U.S. Army Information Assurance Approved Product List

CONOVER, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- The U.S. Army has added the INTERCEPTOR(TM) Optical Network Security System from Network Integrity Systems to its Information Assurance (IA) Approved Product List - allowing Army units and installations around the world to leverage INTERCEPTOR as a formally approved product to protect command & control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) networks and SCIF facilities.

INTERCEPTOR can now be used in support of the Army's initiative to deploy SIPRNet to each Brigade Combat Team and the overarching enterprise strategy to enable network-centric warfare through the Army's Area Processing Centers (APCs). Compared to the traditional methods of protection (i.e. encryption, concrete-encasement, EMT, etc.), INTERCEPTOR drastically reduces the cost and complexity of SIPRNet and JWICS deployments and significantly reduces the total cost of ownership for Army units by eliminating the need to worry about PKI management or daily visual inspections.

"With SIPRNet requirements increasing at a rapid pace across government and military installations worldwide, the traditional methods of protecting networks have become extremely costly, disruptive and a bottleneck to the growing demand for bandwidth," said Joe Giovannini, CEO of Network Integrity Systems. "INTERCEPTOR has redefined physical network security by providing a highly secure, low-cost and transparent solution for securing networks."

Unlike inline network encryptors, INTERCEPTOR is a physical layer device and does not "touch" the classified data whatsoever, allowing the INTERCEPTOR to be 100% transparent to the network and support the full speed of the network switch up to 10Gbps - at no additional cost.

INTERCEPTOR has been deployed within the Intelligence community since 2003 and in support of numerous facilities and installations across the Department of Defense, Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security. In addition to protecting classified networks and national security information, INTERCEPTOR has also been deployed to facilitate increased collaboration and information sharing for anti-terrorism activities and to ensure continuity of operations (COOP) and availability of command and control networks as well as critical infrastructures across the United States.
