Inner Mongolia Accelerates Development of Wind Power(SinoCast China Business Daily News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)INNER MONGOLIA, March 17, SinoCast -- Inner Mongolian government is accelerating the development of wind power. The total installed capacity of wind power has reached 135,000 kilowatts and the electricity output reached 200 million KWH. Inner Mongolia has rich wind power and solar energy resources. And the wind power generators can generate power of 100 million KWH every year. Since 1989, Inner Mongolia has set up 5 wind power plants and introduced 224 wind generating units from Germany, Denmark, Holland, Spain and America. The west electricity network of Inner Mongolia had introduced 151 sets of different wind generators form several countries and the total installed capacity reaches 83,780 kilowatts, 0.8% of the total installed capacity of the Inner Mongolia. The investment reached CNY 600 million. In 2004, the total generation of the wind power in west electricity network was 100 million KWH. While, in Chifeng, a city in the east of Inner Mongolia, the government introduced 73 wind generators and the total installed capacity reached 51,360 kilowatts and the generation achieved 90 million kilowatts. In 2005, a 30,000-kilowatt wind power project was launched in Chifeng. In the same year, Inner Mongolia started construction of wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 962,100 kilowatts. It is supposed that in 2010 the installed capacity of wind power farms in Inner Mongolia will reach 4 million kilowatts. |
