Infocom Expands IP Services With NexTone IntelliConnect System

HONG KONG --(Business Wire)-- NexTone(R), a leader in intelligent and scalable session management solutions for VoIP and IMS network interconnects, announced today that Infocom Technologies has deployed the NexTone IntelliConnect(TM) System to optimize the company's VoIP wholesale service and customer service outsourcing businesses. Infocom, part of the PLDT Group, provides market-segmented services through its different business units, including Internet access solutions, technology utility, and customer service outsourcing. Infocom is also a member of the NexTone Community, an extension of the NexTone User Forum.

NexTone's IntelliConnect System has allowed Infocom, a relatively new player in the VoIP business, to quickly expand beyond its traditional Internet provisioning services. By using the NexTone Multiprotocol Session Exchange (MSX) and Real-time Session Manager (RSM), Infocom will be able to generate new revenues from different types of business models through its IP Exchange (IPX) offering. With its IPX offering, Infocom enables traditional telecom customers to offer IP services, and offers public switched telephone network (PSTN) interconnects -- based on traditional TDM technology -- to the new IP-only service providers.

Infocom's IPX offering is used by PLDT and call centers to offer VoIP services. NexTone's session management technology helps Infocom use its facilities to terminate its outbound voice traffic to more than 250 destinations around the world with VoIP wholesalers and small- to medium-sized call centers. It also enables Infocom, via its IPX offering, to deliver other hosted VoIP services.

Using the NexTone MSX, Infocom is able to provide secure, high-quality VoIP calls that interoperate with Infocom's other VoIP gear so it can accept calls from any IP-based equipment. The security capabilities of the NexTone MSX protect Infocom's VoIP networks from Internet threats such as Denial of Service (DOS) attacks, and provide access control and perform private-to-public IP network address translation (NAT) in real time.

The NexTone RSM provides centralized QoS/SLA management and traffic engineering to Infocom's VoIP networks and gives excellent visibility into service and network quality. This allows Infocom to offer outsourced pre-paid, postpaid, and wholesale VoIP services. NexTone's equipment plays a critical role for Infocom in bridging its customers' networks to the provider's SIP-based prepaid platform.

COMMENTARY

Edgardo Bautista, president and CEO, Infocom Technologies -- "The Internet has made it clear that geographical boundaries are no longer limitations and therefore we look to partners like NexTone to help us expand our services globally. NexTone's referrals and endorsements to its VoIP carrier clients allowed us to quickly facilitate agreements and find the right partners in starting up our VoIP business. We also see NexTone's long-term benefit as allowing Infocom to evolve from its traditional existing services into a dynamic, IP-based company with a global reach."

Raymond Bodemer, regional director of sales, Asia/Pacific, NexTone -- "Infocom made its mark long ago in the ISP business and continues to be a pioneer in the Philippine technology industry by leveraging IP to create new and different business models. NexTone's IntelliConnect System lets Infocom rapidly grow its customer base and revenues through offering multiple VoIP services. We look forward to supporting the company's future goal to become the major IP exchange for voice, data, and video services in the country."
