IHS selects McKesson to streamline workflow and improve productivity

Nov 09, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Iowa Health System has entered into an agreement with McKesson, a healthcare services and information technology company, to streamline workflow and improve productivity.

McKesson said that it will deploy its enterprise-wide solution Horizon Medical Imaging picture archiving and communications system (PACS) at 34 metropolitan hospitals and clinics throughout Iowa.

Iowa Health System (IHS) is currently live on the new PACS solution in five of the seven regions it serves. The remaining regions are expected to be live by the end of 2009. The project also includes data migration of all historical IHS data, which is expected to be completed in November 2009, as well.

Bill Leaver, president and CEO of IHS, said: "When this project is fully complete, our physicians and radiologists will have fast, easy access to their files, images and results virtually anywhere and anytime. Our goal is to provide the best healthcare possible to the communities we serve. With the new PACS in place, our physicians will be able to make care decisions much faster." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
