IBM Ranked Number One in Integration and Access Software Market Share

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ARMONK, NY, November 19 / MARKET WIRE/ --

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today it holds the
number one position in worldwide revenue in the integration and information
access market, according to a recent IDC report.

Data integration and access software bring together data from multiple
sources, allowing it to be more effectively combined, presented, used and
trusted for its quality and accuracy. The IDC report, Worldwide Data
Integration and Access Software 2007 Vendor Shares: Shifting into "Real
Time," indicates that the market grew by more than 20 percent to $2.8
billion in 2007, driven by increased interest in enterprise data
integration as well as continued demand for data warehouses. According to
the report, IBM retained its number one position in this market for the
second year and experienced double-digit growth in 2007.

"We continue to see clients expand their investment in data integration and
data quality," said Jim Welch, vice president, InfoSphere Software, IBM
Software Group. "Organizations require trusted information that is
accurate, complete, and actionable in order to make their business
processes more effective. IBM is helping customers deliver trusted
information in real time to the people, processes and applications that
need it."

IBM's growth in this area is driven by the company's Information on Demand
strategy, which is helping customers access and use information in
real-time across their organizations. Other areas driving demand for
integration software include SOA projects, grid architectures, master data
management initiatives as well as enterprise-wide information management
efforts. According to the study, IBM surpassed HP, Informatica, SAS, SAP
and Oracle in numerous data integration and access software categories.
