The Red Cross had one shelter open Tuesday in Moore and was working on setting up others. The organization continues to operate the three shelters opened around Oklahoma City following severe storms on Sunday, according to a Red Cross news release. The Salvation Army also is in the area assisting displaced residents and providing meals for first responders. Donations: To donate to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, visit RedCross.orgor call (800) RED-CROSS. A $10 donation also can be made by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Be cautious: The Better Business Bureau of Central Oklahoma urges caution when giving online, especially if an organization sends you unsolicited emails or messages on social media. Donors also should ask if the charity is providing direct aid or raising money for other organizations.
