Hill, Kim Kye Gwan make brief contact at academic confab in Tokyo+

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)TOKYO, April 11_(Kyodo) _ The top U.S. and North Korean negotiators to the six-party nuclear talks briefly conversed with each other during a coffee break of an academic conference they attended Tuesday in Tokyo, according to a conference participant.

In the contact, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Christopher Hill told North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan to return to the multilateral talks without any conditions, the participant said.

But Kim said in response that "a rock must be removed" for that to happen, in a likely reference to U.S. sanctions imposed on an entity suspected of laundering money and counterfeiting for North Korea, according to the participant.
