(Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoma City) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 19--CAROL'S GARDEN Occasion: Carol Troy was honored at a birthday party at Trochta's Flowers. The event was in the Greenhouse and Showroom. Invitations featured flower seeds so guests could plant their own flower gardens. Attire for the evening was "garden casual," and Larry Brannon was caterer for the buffet dinner.



Hosts: Gene and Ed Barth, Karen and Bob Browne, Sue Ann and Dudley Hyde, Polly and Larry Nichols, Charlotte and John Richels and Kathy and Russ Walker. They gave the honoree a swinging garden chair imprinted with a butterfly.

Entertainment: Jill Justice played the harp, and Polly Nichols and Karen Browne read a poem called "The Swing" by Robert Louis Stevenson.


Guests: Dee Colley, Annie Bohanon, Joan and Rod Frates, Gennie Johnson, Kirk and Royce Hammons, Karen and Rob Luke, Ann and Bob Gilliland, Lori and Dodge Hill, Janie Kimball, Ann Alspaugh, Jim Vallion and Jamie and Gil Gaddis.

AFTER-PARTY Party: The Oklahoma Senior Follies cast members celebrated the first-ever Follies production with an after-party in the Great Hall of the Tom and Brenda McDaniel Center at Oklahoma City University. One hundred cast members attended after they had two performances during the weekend.

Refreshments: Sugar cookies and punch were served, and the table was decorated with summer flowers.

Talks: Lynn Hefley and Gary Sander acknowledged director David Herendeen and founder/producer Bobbie Burbridge Lane.

WHITNEY'S SHOWER Shower: Whitney Johnson Williams was honored at a baby shower given by Kathy Frankenfield, Kathey Duncan, Donna Weaver, Beth Wells and Cindy Bickford in the Wells home. The baby of Williams and Chase Zane Williams is due in July.

Centerpiece: Large glass containers filled with baby items surrounded by flowers.

Lunch: Salads, tea sandwiches and cake balls.

Seen: Christy Johnson, Judy Williams, Ann Nuttle, Julie Lawrence, Kara Kanaly, Linda Schreiner, Liz Hinkle, Emily Hill and Anna Hibbard.

ARTISTS RECEPTION Reception: Dodson Galleries' 28th annual anniversary show and sale featured an artists reception at the new gallery showroom. There was also a preview party featuring several small works by 25 artists from the 2011 Prix de West Invitational Show at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Center and the gallery's best-selling Oklahoma artists.

SURPRISE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Party: A surprise 30-year anniversary party honored Jane and Brian Levy in their home. Hosts were Reba and Michael John.

Decorations: A Mexican theme featured sombreros, paper flowers, a pinata and serapes around the patio and backyard swimming pool.

Toasts: Toasts were given with strawberries and Champagne. Jeffrey Levy made the first toast.

Seen: Anita and Rolfe Reitz, Jackie Blasi, Anna Rinehart, Cheryl Hille, Connie Herlihy, Reba John, Debbie Oberst, Sally and Peter Morgan, Jane and Alan Puls, Mark Mellow, Rod Blasi, Mike Oberst, Jennifer Brownell, Nathan Brownell, Katie Roten, Mike Manning, Jean John, Emma Carlberg, Olivia Sanders, Beverly Woodrome, Suzanne and Kevin Levy, Phil Eby, Margaret Eby, Carrie and Ken Appleman and Laura Appleman.

SWING TIME Event: Oklahoma City Beautiful's Mayors Golf Tournament was at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, and a reception was held afterward.

Players: Among the players were Bill Rodgers, Ron Bradshaw, Ike Bennett, Bill Bell, Ron Norick and Tim O'Toole. McAfee and Taft Law Firm sponsored the party.

On the tee: During the golf tournament Mick Cornett and Jim Norick had their pictures made with every team. Cornett hit a tee shot with each group using their club and ball.

ROOFTOP COCKTAILS Cocktails: An opening night cocktail party was held on the rooftop of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Mark Dixon, director of YERT: Your Environmental Road Trip, was at the event. Also at the come-and-go party were deadCenter staff and board members, filmmakers, cast and crew from various films shown at the deadCenter Festival and fans of independent films.

Screening: The YERT film was shown twice during the festival.
