Healthbox Evolves Accelerator Model to Meet Current Industry Needs

Healthbox is excited to announce its new accelerator model helping the most serious healthcare entrepreneurs rapidly scale and grow their businesses. The "Healthbox Studios" are designed in response to evolving market needs and build upon the 12 successful accelerator programs and 79 active portfolio companies Healthbox has supported since its inception in 2012. The first Healthbox Studio in Boston is launching this week, while applications are still open for the 2015 Healthbox Studios in Chicago, Miami and Salt Lake City.

"After hearing feedback from our industry partners and the entrepreneurial community, we recognized an opportunity to expand our reach to include early-stage companies," says Healthbox Vice President Maria Siambekos, hired to lead the Healthbox Studios globally. "Our new Studio model enables companies to do exactly what they need to do to grow; access the market faster and more strategically."

The Studios seek elite entrepreneurs trying to solve some of the biggest problems in healthcare in unique and differentiated ways. The structure of the Healthbox Studios has evolved to help both seed and early-stage companies rapidly gain access to the healthcare ecosystem.

  • Companies selected to partcipate will no longer give up equity at the outset of the program
  • Healthbox will provide the companies even more customized, stage-specific guidance and curated access to healthcare and business experts
  • Studio programming will be presented in more concentrated, bi-weekly modules over an eight-week schedule that does not require full-time participation
  • Exposure to an organized syndicate of investors, including Healthbox, will be provided at the end of each Studio program, as well as ongoing support from a group of strategic industry partners

"Our mission at Healthbox since the beginning has been to support the growth of high-potential companies that will solve both the most pressing, and the yet-to-be-realized, healthcare challenges," says Nina Nashif, founder and CEO of Healthbox. "Our organization is evolving as the industry advances so that we can continue to find and attract the best innovation and strategically guide our industry partners into the next era of healthcare delivery."

In particular, the Healthbox Studios are seeking applications from companies which have a product or solution focused on the design of new care delivery models, the extension of primary care physicians, the practical use of smart and actionable data and/or supporting longevity and smart healthcare for aging populations.

Applications are open and all serious entrepreneurs are invited to apply. The application close and program launch dates for Chicago, Miami and Salt Lake City are available on the Healthbox website at www.healthbox.com. New locations will be announced in the future and applications will always be reviewed on a rolling basis.
