HackerAgency and Serum Mitigate Data Security Risks for Clients with ISO Certification

Global digital/direct marketing agency HackerAgency announced today that it has achieved International Standards Organization (ISO) 27001:2013 certification for data security from National Quality Assurance for the sixth year in a row. As one of the first agencies in America to achieve ISO 27001 certification for data security back in 2010, HackerAgency sees large security gaps among agencies and encourages brand marketers to learn more about the steps their agencies can take to protect sensitive client data.

"Safeguarding the personally identifiable information (PII) and personal health information (PHI) we manage for clients has always been a top priority, but it is even more important now given recent, high-profile data breaches that have been in the press," said Tonny Wong, Information Security Officer at HackerAgency. "Since our first deployment we have continued to refine how we handle our clients' data, with our eye on one goal: to go above and beyond what's required in the industry, so clients are confident that our systems and processes will in fact protect their sensitive consumer data."

When HackerAgency first achieved ISO 27001 certification, Spyro Kourtis, President and CEO of HackerAgency, called on the advertising industry to follow suit in protecting consumer information. Today HackerAgency remains one of few in the marketing industry with the glbally recognized ISO requirements for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).

Clients represented by HackerAgency's stand-alone healthcare business unit, Serum, benefit equally from the ISO 27001-certified systems in place. Serum Vice President of Healthcare Tom Reid stated: "Our ability to process personal health information in-house is a capability that greatly benefits our clients. In addition to the tight data security these systems and processes provide, they create efficiencies because data stays in-house and this enables Serum to deliver more robust marketing campaigns for clients in a more agile way. Agency ISO certification is a win-win that more brand marketers should insist on."
