Great Basin's Sandra Nielsen Recognized with Utah Business Annual Sales & Marketer of the Year (SAMY) Award

Great Basin Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ:GBSN), a molecular diagnostics company, today announced that Utah Business magazine has honored Sandra Nielsen, Vice President, Sales, Marketing & HR with a 2016 SAMY award. The Utah Business SAMY awards aim to recognize Utah's top sales and marketing professionals who have had a measurable impact on their company's bottom line. Ms. Nielsen will accept her award later today during the SAMY Honoree Award Luncheon held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.

Ms. Nielsen spearheads Great Basin's global sales and marketing efforts, leads the customer/technical support operations, and oversees product management and user experience, as well as corporate communications and public relations efforts. In her role, she supports Great Basin's continuing efforts to empower health providers to accurately diagnose infectious disease and define a clear treatment path sooner for improved patient outcomes, shorter hospital stays and dollars saved in hospitalization costs per patient.

"Sandra's passion and drive are not only admirable, but they are clearly genuine, and contagious throughout the entire organization," said Ryan Ashton, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Great Basin. "Her work ethic and dedication inspire her team of talented sales and marketing professionals to go the extra mile for our customers and the organization. We are grateful for Sandra's unwavering commitment and we commend her on this well-deserved recognition."

Ms. Nielsen has worked at Utah-based high-tech start-ups since the mid 1990's serving in a variety of marketing, public relations and communications roles. Since she assumed leadership of the Great Basin Sales organization in August 2014, Great Basin has decreased its sales cycle from 61 days to 30 days, grown the customer win rate from 76 to 86 percent, and has grown the customer base from 84 to 186 sites as of the end of 2015.

"It's an honor to be acknowledged among such an accomplished group of sales and marketing leaders throughout the state of Utah," said Ms. Nielsen. "I'm passionate about the work we do at Great Basin and am fortunate to work with a team as committed as I to improving patient outcomes in hospitals every day."

The SAMY honorees will be featured in the January 2016 edition of Utah Business magazine. For more information, visit http://www.utahbusiness.com/events/samy-awards/.
