Governor Scott Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Florida School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Jan. 21-27 will be Florida School Choice Week, thanks to a proclamation from Gov. Scott. More than a dozen other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.

During National School Choice Week, more than 3,800 events across Florida will celebrate opportunity in education and spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children. More than 32,000 events, including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, and school fairs, will take place nationwide.

"Florida has been a leader in the school choice movement, and we are pleased that Gov. Scott has issued this proclamation to make School Choice Week official in Florida," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "School choice has been gaining momentum across the country, and we'e Florida has played an important role. We hope all Florida parents will find a school that's best for their children."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
