Governor Fallin Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Oklahoma School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Gov. Fallin has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 as Oklahoma School Choice Week, joining dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders in officially recognizing the largest-ever celebration of opportunity in education.

In Oklahoma, 353 School Choice Week events and activities have been independently planned; they are intended to spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

Across Arizona, 970 events will raise awareness and spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children during National School Choice Week, January 22-28, 2017.

More than 32,000 independently planned events will take place nationwide. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

"We are grateful to Gov. Fallin for issuing this proclamation," said Andrew Campanlla, president of National School Choice Week. "We're proud of the many great teachers, school leaders, parents, and students in Oklahoma, who strive for the best education possible. We wish them the best in their School Choice Week celebrations."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
