'Google UK head sees major shift to mobile internet soon'

Jul 07, 2010 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Google UK chief executive Matt Brittin believes there will be a major shift towards mobile technology in the near future, he told the Telegraph. "Between 25 percent and 30 percent of consumers use their mobiles to access the internet. But in three years' time analysts believe more people will be accessing it from their mobiles than from a desktop. That's a massive change," Brittin said. Google said it want to bring more people onto Google. The internet company is leading the Getting British Business Online initiative. Some 1.5 million UK companies have yet to set up a website and Brittin has set a target of getting 100,000 of them on the web within 12 months. So far 40,000 have signed up and the plan is on track.
