Google acquires word processor to jab Microsoft

(Wall Street US Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Google Inc has purchased Upstartle LLC in an effort to challenge Microsoft Corp. The search giant's recent acquisition developed word processor Writely.com, which functions as other processors but can be accessed online and run without requiring other software. The purchase follows Google chief executive Eric Schmidt's unintentional announcement that the company aims to dominate the market for desktop computers.
