GlobeTel launches VoIP network in Brazil


(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)US communications company GlobeTel Communications (AMEX: GTE) is launching a VoIP-based communications network in Brazil, the company said in a statement.

The service called iLigue is being rolled out in Brazil's north-eastern region and later across the rest of the country.

Any customer in Brazil can have a US phone number which automatically forwards calls to their Brazil-based cell phone, home phone or office phone. All calls to this number will be charged as a local US call.

Plans start at under 50 reais a month, the statement said.

GlobeTel provides an integrated suite of telecoms products and services in stored value, VoIP and wireless access technologies, according to the company's website.
