Global Data Center Infrastructure Management Market - Increased Need for DCIM Among Colocation Providers - Research and MarketsDUBLIN, September 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Data Center Infrastructure Management Market 2016-2020" report to their offering. The report forecasts the global data center infrastructure management (DCIM) market to grow at a CAGR of 14.68% during the period 2016-2020. Growing adoption of containerized data centers will be a key trend for market growth. A containerized data center is a portable one pre-installed inside a shipping container. These data centers are a part of a modular data center, in which each module is a container that can host IT, power, and cooling equipment. These data centers are available in the size of 20 feet and 40 feet and are delivered to end-users on demand. According to the report, the data center environment is becoming complex with advances in technology such as cloud, big data, IoT, and virtualization. Therefore, virtualization is an important reason for organizations to adopt DCIM. In general, around 20%-30% of resources are not being utilized properly. This includes comatose servers, and storage and network infrastructure. In addition, a server running at its full capacity emits a huge amount of heat that needs to be cooled down by the cooling infrstructure. The amount of power supplied to the comatose server is also being wasted. One among the main drivers compelling the adoption of DCIM solutions is better capacity utilization of IT infrastructure, along with power and cooling infrastructure. Further, the report states that DCIM investment will range anywhere between 0.5%-1% of the total data center investment by an enterprise. Of this, around 70% of the cost is for software license, around 20% for installation, and 10% for yearly maintenance. It is to be noted that this investment will vary based on the DCIM software features adopted, hardware installation required, and type of services needed for smooth operations. In 2015, around 30% of data center operators were still planning and evaluating the benefits of DCIM adoption in their facilities. Some of the factors hindering adoption are hidden costs and doubts regarding the efficiency it will bring to the existing complex IT environment. In addition, installation of DCIM in old data centers will involve integration challenges and costs related to the adoption of sensors and other hardware. Key vendors:
