Fujitsu Siemens Computers sees turnover drop (Fujitsu Siemens verliert an Boden)

(Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the IT joint venture of German technologies group Siemens and the Japanese group Fujitsu, saw turnover in the first half of the financial year 2007/2008 drop 2 per cent to around 3bn euros. Bernd Bischoff, head of the management board, has attributed the decline to a difficult market and the weakness of the dollar. Prices for computers and accessories reportedly fell by more than 10 per cent. Mr Bischoff has said that the company's business with desktop computers for private customers in particular was unsatisfactory, as the company is losing further shares of the market to rivals.

FSC saw operating profit climb 11 per cent to 20m euros in the first half of the year, with pre-tax profit up from 4m euros to 14m euros.
