FTTH Council Selects C Spire Fiber to the Home Internet technology initiative in Mississippi for 2015 Star Award

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- C Spire's ultra-high speed 1 Gbps (Gigabit per second) Fiber to the Home Internet technology initiative in Mississippi has received the 2015 Star Award from the Fiber to the Home Council Americas (FTTH Council) for helping promote the expansion of consumer broadband access in the U.S.

The announcement was made Tuesday at the FTTH Council's 2015 "Fiber on Fire" Connect Conference in Anaheim, California and follows C Spire's successful commercial launch of 100 times faster Internet access and related services in three Mississippi ciies last fall – just 12 months after announcing the historic initiative.

In presenting the award to C Spire, FTTH Council President Heather Burnett Gold cited the company's success in making its bold technology vision a reality.  "Mississippi is home to the nation's first statewide Gigabit speed Fiber to the Home project.  That's a terrific accomplishment and one that puts the Magnolia State at the forefront of a growing trend of empowered communities across the nation," she said.
