Friend or Foe: Kintera Launches Features for Quality Online Advocacy Communications; Information-Driven Tool Empowers Activists to Send Timely, Targeted Messages to 'Friends' and 'Foes'

SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 13, 2005 -- Advocacy groups and supporters can now achieve more personalized, quality communications with elected officials and other decision-makers by using Kintera's new "Friend or Foe" feature. Kintera(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:KNTA), the leading provider of software as a service to the nonprofit industry, today announced the feature as part of Kintera Advocacy.

The first of its kind, the "Friend or Foe" feature helps nonprofits affect legislative outcomes -- not just react to results. The tool allows advocacy groups and supporters to send customized online communications based on a decision-maker's issue stance. For example, the feature enables a user to send different messages to two Senators with opposing positions on an issue -- in a single action. "Friend or Foe" helps nonprofits reach the right legislator with the right message, leading to better advocacy campaign results.

"We're very excited about incorporating the new 'Friend or Foe' feature into our advocacy work," said Heather Hoell, vice president of public and political affairs at Planned Parenthood Shasta-Diablo in California (www.ppshastadiablo.org). "We advocate at the federal, state, and local levels. The flexibility of this tool will allow our activists to send personalized and relevant messages to key decision-makers -- when it matters most."

Advocacy groups can load historical voting records, legislative co-sponsorships and custom position information into Kintera Advocacy, creating a simplified experience for Web site users by offering centralized and relevant legislative data. In addition to the new "Friend or Foe" feature, Kintera Advocacy also includes an Elected Officials Search. This feature enables supporters to look up their elected officials directly within the module.

"Effective citizen advocacy relies on good information and quality communications," said Greg Nelson, vice president of politics and public policy at Kintera. "The new features provide easy access to the data necessary for effective advocacy -- in a format that enables supporters to immediately advocate for client causes. Kintera is committed to improving the quality and relevance of constituent communications for nonprofits."
