Fresh waves for BT

(Western Mail Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Telecoms giant BT yesterday launched a division to deal with the millions of installations and maintenance visits its engineers make every year. The name Openreach will appear on 22,000 vans, including distinctive multi- coloured waves that will stretch the length of each vehicle.



About 25,000 engineers, who install new telephone lines, maintain existing ones and upgrade the local network, will be covered by the launch.

Steve Robertson, chief executive of Openreach, said, 'This is an exciting time for the telecoms industry and Openreach has a vital role to play in making sure that Britain's consumers and businesses have access to the most innovative and competitive communications market in the world.'
