Free Family Night Scheduled for July 14 at Apple Valley Medical Center


Parents of children up to age 16 can receive free bike helmets for their children (limit two per family, children must be present) at the center's fourth annual Family Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14. Activities will take place at the Apple (News - Alert) Valley Medical Center, 14655 Galaxie Avenue, Apple Valley.

"We are honored to give back to the community that has been our home for the last 40 years," said Mike Foley, Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of the family medicine clinic located there. "We want to provide a night for the whole family at a medical center for the whole family."

Free bike helmets will be given to the first 100 children under the age of 16. Children must be present to receive a helmet, and there is a limit of two per family. In addition, physicians will perform back-to-school and sports physicals for $25, with the fees going back to local area schools. Appointments for these physicals are recommnded, but not required. Patients are asked to pay with cash or checks payable to the school of their choice.



During the Family Night event, health care experts will share information on a number of health topics, and free screenings will be available for blood pressure, body fat, varicose veins, hearing and more. Children can enjoy a jumping house, and attendees will be able to tour a working firetruck. The evening also will include free refreshments and music by Bob and the Beachcombers. Admission is free.

Background: The Apple Valley Medical Center includes the independent Apple Valley Medical Clinic of 14 family practice physicians and one physician assistant, serving patients from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., five days a week. It also includes a 24-hour Urgent Care center. In addition, through an affiliation with United Hospital, part of Allina Health, approximately 25 specialty physicians see patients through the United Specialty Center, providing services in allergy and asthma; ankle and foot; cardiology; colon and rectal surgery; dermatology; ear, nose and throat; general surgery; low back & neck care; ob/gyn; ophthalmology; orthopedics; orthopedic spine; podiatry and urology. The Apple Valley Medical Center also houses United Medical Imaging for digital mammography, ultrasound, CT and MRI scans; a full-service pharmacy; and physical medicine and rehabilitation care through Courage Kenny Sports & Physical Therapy - Apple Valley.
